Advent Devotional

“Faces on the Road to Bethlehem”

In The Sign of Immanuel, the prophet Isaiah speaks of a sign from God some 700 years prior to the birth of Christ (Isaiah 7:10-16).

14 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

As I reflect on my faith journey this Advent season, I recall many times asking God for a sign to help me believe. God placed many signs before me, but I could not see them.

God is patient.

I can see many of these signs now. Some are evident in biblical passages. Some are present in my everyday life. I can recognize many that have come before and eagerly anticipate those yet to appear. What a wonderful gift it is to be able to experience these signs from God.

God’s grace is abundant.

Everyday my faith grows stronger. Every day I am witness to the wonders and miracles that our God puts forth. How blessed I am.

Thanks be to God.
